Language Services Associates Launches New Video Remote Interpreting Platform for Foreign Language & American Sign Language Support

Horsham, Pa. (January 21, 2011) Language Services Associates, Inc. (LSA), a global language service provider offering a full suite of multicultural solutions, is excited to announce the launch of its new Video Remote Interpreting (VRI) platform for foreign language and American Sign Language (ASL) support.  With this new system, clients will benefit from improved sound and picture quality, ensuring remote interpretation sessions run as smoothly and efficiently as possible.  Live monitoring of the call queue, real-time reporting metrics, secure and HIPAA compliant software and the ability to request preferred Interpreters are just some of the many features of LSA’s new VRI platform.

Language Services Associates Announces New Scholarship Fund for Students Attending the Monterey Institute of International Studies

Horsham, Pa. (October 7, 2010) – Language Services Associates (LSA), a global language service provider offering a full suite of multicultural solutions, is pleased to announce the establishment of The Language Services Associates Scholarship Fund at the Monterey Institute of International Studies (MIIS).  The purpose of this fund is to provide financial assistance to ambitious and worthy students who are otherwise unable to afford an education at this highly-esteemed graduate school.

“We have always believed in the mission and core values of the Monterey Institute, which is why many of our Independently Contracted Linguists, as well as select employees and external consultants, are proud MIIS graduates,” said Laura K.T. Schriver, President and CEO, LSA.  “What most people may not realize is that one-third of Monterey’s students are international and are, therefore, ineligible to receive federal aid.  With this new scholarship fund, we hope to give more students the opportunity to pursue a highly sought after Monterey Institute education, which will, in turn, help keep the language service industry competitive.”

LSA recently donated $10,000 to The Language Services Associates Scholarship Fund, which was awarded to a second-year Chinese Interpretation and Translation student from Taichung City, Taiwan.  Thanks to this financial contribution, the deserving scholar has been able to continue her professional training at MIIS.  She is expected to graduate in May, 2011 and is preparing to apply for a summer medical interpreting internship at Stanford University.

LSA American Sign Language Interpreter Selected to Interpret for President Barack Obama this Veterans Day
LSA is proud to continue serving the Deaf and Hard of Hearing communities

Horsham, Pa. (November 10, 2009) – On Wednesday, November 11th, thousands are expected to congregate at Arlington National Cemetery for the 56th Annual National Veterans Day Observance.  As President Barack Obama takes the stage to deliver the keynote speech, members of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing communities will be able to follow along, thanks to an ongoing initiative by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs to consistently provide accessibility to all of our nation’s veterans.

When it was time for the Department of Veterans Affairs to book a sign language Interpreter for the 2009 Veterans Day speech, they reached out to Language Services Associates (LSA) for assistance.  “We have been providing Interpreting by Telephone (IBT) services to the United States Department of Veterans Affairs for the past 5 years,” said Laura Schriver, President and CEO, LSA.  “We are honored and delighted they have selected one of our American Sign Language Interpreters to interpret for President Barack Obama this Veterans Day.  This is quite a privilege and we look forward to the opportunity to aid in the accessibility of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing communities on such a significant day for our nation.”
